Welcome to the journal of Glenlochie Lodge.

Over the past several years, we have shared the ongoing restoration of this 143-year-old Victorian home in Dresden, Ontario, along with the stories, history, and people connected to it.

What began as the renovation of a historic house quickly became something much more meaningful.

Through research, conversations, photographs, and the memories generously shared by others, Glenlochie Lodge slowly revealed itself not simply as a home, but as part of the continuing story of a community.

This journal serves as a collection of those stories.

Some are rooted in the history of the house itself. Others reflect the restoration process, the character of Dresden, and the people whose lives have crossed paths with Glenlochie Lodge over generations.

It is our hope that these writings preserve not only the details of the house, but also the feeling of it.

A slower pace.
A sense of place.
And the quiet understanding that history is not gone — it continues through those willing to remember it.
